ROTHERHAM TRAIN SMASH
EVIDENCE AT THE INQUEST. By ‘clegrapto— Press Assn— Copvrlgbt. London. Nov. 21. The express concerned in the collision at Rotherham, in which eight persons were killed, was 150 feet long and travelling at 50 miles an hour. It would have flashed past safely if tho goods wagon had been derailed two seconds later, said a railway official, when giving evidence at the inquest on tho nine dead in the Rotherham disaster.
A broken drawbar caused the truck to collapse, telescoping six others.
