It is stated at Montreal that the first month of beam wireless business with the public has proved a continuous success. The traffic handled in four weeks has been more than double that dealt with previously by the company. The rapidity of the service and the accuracy of messages have been the outstanding features. There has been a constant 24-hour service from Montreal to London at a minimum speed of 100 words per minute. Since the automatic high ' speed machines used for the transmission and reception of messages in code arc working smoothly and practically without interruption, errors have been reduced to a minimum. A further improvement, moreover,' is expected, . although the transmission is already instantaneous. Successful experiments have been made with a printer machine, which automatically decodes messages sent and prints them ready for delivery to the addressee. Ninety per cent, of the total traffic from the Montreal station has been handled in this way at a speed as high as 175 words per minute.
