Largely owing to the efforts of Mr. Spencer, M.P., who was boycotted by the Miners’ Federation, the Nottingham owners aud miners have agreed on terms of resumption. These cover a five year period, and include wages governed by results. The working day is extended by half an hour. SPEECH BY MINERS' SECRETARY. •FIGHT BY NO- MEANS ENDED. Received Nov. 22,-8> p.m. London, Nov. 22. “Is it peace 1 No, it is not peace,” declared Mr. A. J. Cook, secretary of the Miners’ Federation, in a violent speech at a Labour meeting at Stalybridge. “Toryism thought it had won. but it had won only by starving the men out.” He warned the owners not to ring joy bells too soon, or they would begin the struggle again, “from the day they are back." To wipe out the Eight Hour Act they wouM start an intensive campaign and so organise the union that they would be led to victory. Their lines had been bent but not broken.” Mr. Cook added: “We have been beaten, but the fight is by no means ended.”
