BOY’S GALLANT FIGHT
HEROIC SAVING OF LIFE RESCUE OF HIS BROTHERS. CHILDREN LEFT ALONE. By Telegraph.—Press Association Gisborne, Last Night. A six-roomed house in the borough, owned and occupied by W. V. Piesse, was damaged by fire last evening. The only oeeupants at the time were four children aged 15, six and two years, and a seven months baby, the mother and father being absent. The eldest lad was awakened by smoke and flames in the baek portion of the house and hurriedly thrust his six-year-old brother out of the front door. Then he dashed back for the two-year-old brother and placed him outside also. Then the lad rushed baek into the blinding smoke for the baby, but was overtaken by a fireman, who handed the infant out of a window. The brigade made a good save, only the kitchen and dining-room being badly damaged. The fire originated in the hot water cupboard. The house was insured for £7OO and the furniture for £2OO in the Alliance Insurance Company.
