PLUNKET DAY APPEAL
DETAILS OF THE EFFORT.
RESULTS OF COMPETITIONS.
The final count of the amount raised by tl>e New Plymouth Plunket Day Appeal •made through the medium of a mart and street and house-to-house collection on Friday, showed the total amount subscribed as £3lO. The society wishes to express its thanks to all who gave such willing assistance. The special thanks of the society are due to Aliss BariJjorp, who had charge of the sweets stall, Harwoods, Ltd., for painting calico signs, Miw. Clow, of A ogeltown, for - many toy animals, and Mrs. Graham, who very generously supplied luncheon to a number of workers.
Following are the detailed results of the effort: Street collections (with several boxes to come) £l4O 2s 2d, produce £2l Ils 9d, sweets £l7 10s 6d, clothes £24 4s lid, eggs £l3 4s (id, lamp shade £27 14s, doll's pram £5 12s, cakes, etc., £25 8s 4d, toys £l3 Gs 7d, flowers £5 2s 2d, sundries £2 Ils, Buick garage competition £8 16s lOd, donations £413s 3d, Rev. and Airs. F. G. Harvie £1 Is, Italian Baud £3 7s 3d, Mr. E Elliott OS. The results of the various guessing competitions were as follow: — Ham (correct weight 181 b 6%0z). —K Zumhach, 181 b Goz.
Length of string in bottle (17yds 31iu). —Ylitss Farrington and Mr. W, Brown tied with 17| yards, and in the draw Miss Farrington won. Tacks in a bottle (484).—-Mr. W. C. Weston 478.
Threepenny pieces in bottle (294). — J. Royston 297. The following are the names of additional collectors and helpers; Mrs. Boon,. Misses Kirkby, Parkinson, Cameron, Hawes, L. Mac Diarmid and Moyes.
