TARANAKI AGAIN SCORES McCANN NORTH ISLAND CHAMPION L. GARGAN WINGS’; MILES’ RACE. by Telegraph.—Press Association. Wanganui, Last Night. The Taranaki boy. L. G argan (Kaponga) won the 25-mile cycling road race yesterday, with two other New Plymouth boys, C. Aroa and V. Bellringer, second and third respectively in the Wanganui professional club’s big event. The North Island championship was won by S. McCann, who rode from scratch and covered the distance in 1 hour 9 minutes. * McCann is only 17 years of age and scored the junior road championship honours in addition. L. Gargan’s time was Ihi. 12min. 30 sec., Aroa’s Ihr. llmin. 30 l-ssec., and Bellringer’s Ihr. llmin. 30 2-ssec. Only half a wheel separated the first and second men.
