His great grandsires were Galopin and Ayrshire (sire’s side) and Barcaldine and Isinglass (dam's side). These are names to conjure with, and columns could be written of the performances of the progeny of the great sires named. Sheffield, during his short stay on the turf, was a successful performer, and his sire, Bright Steel, also had good performances to his credit during the short season.
