LABOUR CABINET CRISIS
CAUSES OF THE TROUBLE. By Telegraph—Pr«as Asen. —Copyright. Received Nov. 19, 5.5 p.m. Sydney, Nov. 19. It Is understood that the political erisiii wae to some extent hastened by the unexpected issue of the proclamation bringing into operation the Bill recently jmssed providing for single Parliamentary seats in plaec of the former proportional representation system. This step was taken after a meeting of the Executive Council, and without consulting the Labour caucus, which had anticipated it would he given an opportunity of expressing its opinion on tho subject. Many members on both sides opposed the redistribution scheme, and the arbitrary asumption by Mt. Lang of the powers conferred upon him at tho recent Australian Labour Party Conference was strongly resented' by sonio; members bf his party, including Mr. Loughlin.
