VICTIM OF ILL-HEALTH
VERDICT OF SUICIDE. Bv Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Nov. 18. An inquest on Archibald Mclnnes, who cut his throat with a razor, was held at Petone to-day. The coroner returned a verdict oi suicide while in a depressed state of mind due to bad health. In the course of her evidence, his wife said that the previous evening after a call at the Immigration Office, where they told him not to sit at home, but go out and look for work, he had then stated that, rather than become a burden on the Government, he would do away with himself. Deceased, who was 37 years of age, arrived from England on June 14. He had served in the 42nd division during the Great War and had been wounded in the stomach. He had recovered at Home, but his wound affected him in his work here. He had been able to get fairly consistent work and his financial- affairs were all right, but be was worried about his health. He had stated that if he could get back to England he would be all right, as bis old employer, with whom he had worked 21 years, had treated him well and would give him back his old position.
