AMERICA AND MEXICO

INTERFERENCE IN CANAL ZONE. UNITED STATES GIVES WARNING By Telegraph—Press Assn.— Copyright. Received Nov. 19, 12.35 a.m. Washington, Nov. 18. The spectre of a Mexican fostered hegemony intervening between the United States and the Panama Canal has thrust itself into American-Mexican relations which are already strained. This came to light on Wednesday with an appeal by Adolfo Diaz, the new Presidcst of Nicaragua, for American intervention to restore peace in Nicaragua, and formed the occasion of a warning by Mr. Kellogg, Secretary of State, that “interference from outside sources” in Nicaraguan political affairs would be viewed with concern in Washington. President Diaz immediately upon his recognition by the United States on Wednesday, sought American aid against the liberal revolution which has been supported by Mexico.
