NOTED NOVELIST’S DEATH

ALLEN UPWARD FOUND SHOT.

By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received Nov. 18, 5.5 p.m. London, Nov.. 17

Allen Upward, a well-known novelist, was found shot through the heart at his rooms in Winiborne, Dorsetshire. There is grim irony underlying the tragedy of a man of brilliant gifts who after years of failure published a sensational novel, ‘‘Domino Club,” and dealing with pyscho-analysis, which was an immediate success and one of the “best sellers” in America.

Unfortunately Mr. Upward decided his efforts to get back were useless. He refused to believe the evidence to the contrary, and died believing he was a literary failure.
