HARBOUR FINANCE
PORT OF NEW PLYMOUTH POSITION FOR NINE MONTHS. INCREASE IN REVENUE. An increase of £4372 in the revenue of the Port of New Plymouth for the nine months ended September 30 was reported by the chairman (Mr. C. E. Bellringer, M.P.) at yesterday’s meeting of the Harbour Board. The amount received in 1926 was £36,260, compared with £31,260 in 1925. The October returns were £2BOO, or £5OO more than for the corresponding month last year, when the effects of the shipping strike - were felt. With thie amount added, the total revenue was raised to £39,060, or an increase for the ten months of £4872. Land revenue for the nine months totalled £2765. Total'receipts were: General account £36,260, loan hypothecation £53,899, overdraft at bank £10.102, an aggregate of £100,262. Expenditure on the loan account amounted to £64,001. made up as follow: Balance, December- 31, 1925, £8902 4s Bd, dredge Paritutu (working £6687 13s 7d, overhaul £7857 19s lOdj £14,545 13s sd, permanent way £751 10s 3d, breakwater extension £14.239, engineer's department £1077 5s 2d, Newton King wharf £29.319 9s sd, Moturoa .wharf and approach £913 5s od. General expenditure for the nine months was as follows: Moturoa wharf £2BOO, new offices, etc., £2192, breakwater protection £lOB9, plant and material £3685, dredging £14,545, breakwater extension £14,239, and Newton King wharf £29,319. This meant a total expenditure in the general account of £16.277, and to be added to this aas £64,001 under the loan account, and transfer of interest £20,875, making a grand total of £101,154.
