CRICKET.
THURSDAY COMPETITION. WIN FOR INGLEWOOD. The Thursday cricket competition in Taranaki was inaugurated yesterday, when Inglewood met Eltham on the Inglewood ground and defeated the visitors by 115 runs to 75 in a one innings match. Inglewood butted first, D. Allan making 38, Sutherland 34 and R. Brown 17. Hen took four wickets and .Jackson three. To Eltham’s total of 75, Jackson contributed 25 and Page made 18. Powell took five wickets for 16 runs. There are only three teams in the competition still, Inglewood, Stratford and Eltham, so that there is only one match every week, and one team has a bye. Next Thursday Stratford play Eltham at Stratford. TEAMS FOR TO-MORROW. There will be no senior grade cricket matches in the. North Taranaki competition to-morrow, owing to the North v. South Taranaki match. Junior teams have been selected as follows; Okato, to play School, at New Plymouth: —Edwards. Rutherford, E. Andrews, P. Corbett, Coleman, Knyvett, Jenkins, McCarthy, A. Andrews, C, Corbett, Brooke; reserves, Bremner. Car leaves Okato Hotel at 12.50 p.m. Borough Council A, to play Western Park at Tukapa No. 2.—Lewis. Hodges, Portway, Kinsella, Large, Spedding (2), O’Donnell, McClymont, Woods, Lee, L. Thomas. Borough Council B, to play the Band at Tukapa No. 3.—-Mills, Thomas, Jones, Shaw, Hamblyn, Stewart, Simpson, R. Hawkins, Batten, Priar, Hill, Sole, Gavton. The Avenue Road v. New Plymouth, at Tukapa No. 4 at 2 p.m.—Richards (2), Jones, Harvey, Beu, Clarke, Cliff, Olson, Bowie, Osborne, Sharpe; emer--gency, L. Williams. The following team has been selected to rrinv against High School seniors on the School ground. Play commences at 1.45 p.m.—Nicoll, Saunders, Shepherd, M. Clarke, Cottier, Jones, Allen, Norgate, Kinsella, Papps, Eggleton. The following will represent New Plymouth juniors against Avenue Road at Tukapa.—A. Stevens, C. Hodges, A. Smith, Clarke, R.
