CATTLEMEN’S WAGES
CLAIMS FOR INCREASES.

The Conciliation Council held a sitting at Blenheim and heard a dispute regarding the wages of musterers, packers and drovers. The men claimed £5 weekly or 25s a day for musterers, £4 2s 6d or £1 for packers, and £1 10s per day and expenses for drovers, a considerable increase over the old award.
The employers counter-claimed' for lower rates.
The parties failed to reach an agreement except on one or two formal matters with reference to conditions and the scope of the award. The dispute wap, therefore, referred to the Arbitration Court.
