OPUNAKE NEWS.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) The tennis season is now in full swing, and there is a strong membership. A new board fence has been erected round the second court. Matches with outside teams will be interesting this year, and it is expected that Opunake will hold its own as far as tennis is concerned. Very noticeable improvements have been effected to the beach surroundings, the swamp having 'been drained, and the tracks improved. Where the swamp was will be filled in, and probably formed into tennis courts, the size being suitable. 'Mr. G. W. Robertson has sold his house near the football ground to Mr. Walter Ward. A section in the main street belonging to the Cross estate has been sold to Mr. H. Booker, the owner of the Railway Boardinghouse, who will doubtless build.
