TYPHOID AT MASTERTON
SOURCE OF INFECTION TRACED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Masterton, Last Night. In connection with the outbreak of typhoid, it was stated at the Borough Council to-night that the source of infection had been traced to a local dairy farm outside the borough,‘which is subject to inspection by the Agricultural Department. It was found that cans containing milk, from which the infection is believed to have originated, had been standing in a stream which was fed by the effluent of septic tank, while an adjacent piggery also had soakage access to the stream. The milk supply was immediately suspended, and will remain so until the department is satisfied that conditions on the farm have been materially improved. So far only one positive case lias been diagnosed, but four others are under observation. All tiie patients were supplied with milk from the same farm.
