SHOOTING FOR BOYS

THE JELLICOE TROPHY. TECHNICAL COLLEGE SUCCESS. Advice that for the third time in succession the Earl Jellicoe trophy had been won by the New Plymouth Technical College was received by telegram yesterday by the director (Mr. A. L. Moore) from the Minister of Defence (Hon. F. J. Rolleston). The winning of this trophy means also tliat the school leads in New Zealand for the senior Imperial Challenge Shield. The telegram added: “I heartily congratulate you and aIF ranks on the splendid shooting, and wish you all success in the senior shield competition.” The Jellicoe bowl is awarded to the school in New Zealand securing the highest score in the Imperial Challenge Shield competition. New Plymouth schools have twice been successful in winning the senior Imperial Challenge Shield—New Plymouth Boys’ High School in 1916, and the Technical College in 1924. There is a possibility that the latter school may be again successful this vear.

The Jellicoe bowl has, since the trophy has been offered for competition, been won by the following schools: 1921 New Plymouth Boys’ High School. 1922 Nelson College. 1923 New Plymouth Boys’ High School. 1924 —New Plymouth Technical College.
