STEAMER DELAYED

TROUBLE IN STOKEHOLD. By Telegraph.—Press Association Auckland, Last Night. The Union Company’s cargo steamer Kaponga was delayed this evening owing to trouble with the stokehold hands. The steamer was ready to sail for Napier at five o’clock, but was one fireman short. After waiting two hours for the missing man, the captain decided to anchor the steamer in the stream, but the remainder of the stokehold hands refused to take her from the wharf. The missing man returned shortly afterwards, but by that time the stokers had decided that they objected to sailing with- the ship’s cook. It is hoped to get the vessel away at a late hour.
