ACCOUNTS NOT AUDITED

SOLICITOR FINED £6O. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Dunedin, Nov. 13. “From the report of the auditors it is quite dear that great carelessness and lack of attention was shown,” said Mr. H. W. Bundle, S.M., this morning, in fining John Munro Gillies £6O for failing, as a solicitor, to have liiS trust accoi...t audited. Last Wednesday Gillies was suspended from practice by the Supreme Court, pending consideration by the Appeal Court of an application to strike him off the roll. It was stated by Mr. Adams, Crown solicitor, that investigation showed a deficit of £570. The books had not been kept since the end of March, 1925, ami even competent accountants had been unable to arrive at the true position. Mr. White, for the defendant, stated that he had been ill and absent from business since February. Even the costs credited to defendant were not shown.
