MECHANICAL ADVANCES
VALLE FOR TRANSPORT,
INTERVIEW WITH MR. COATES.
By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. London. Nov. 14.
The Rt, Hon. J. G. Coates, interviewed, said the tank demonstration at Camberley showed not only the striking development iu military mechanicalisation, but the value of mechanical transport for civil purposes. The military tanks and tractors exhibited might usefully be adapted to development works in new countries. Instead of having to construct expensive roads ahead of railways, hydroelectric and irrigation works material could be conveyed to the site of operations immediately by the new method of motor transport. The army’s experiments in mechanical transport were thus most important to the whole Empire for commercial, as well as war purposes.
