SOLDIER SETTLEMENT IN DANGER. By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright. Brisbane, Nov. 12. Huge bush fires continue to sweep the southern portions of the State, the latest big outbreak being in the Stantliorpe district, where nuiuoeTs of valuable orchards have been destroyed. Fires are raging from Wilson’s Downfall to Stanthorpe, and from Erkey to the New South Wales border. The soldier settlement of Amiens, near Stanthorpe, is surrounded by a ring of fires, and grave fears are entertained for the safety of the settlors.
