ATHLETICS.
NEW PLYMOUTH CLUB RUN. • Cottam, with a handicap of 3min., was home well ahead of his fellow marker, Geddes, in a run over a courte of about 2} miles at Moturoa on Satntday afternoon. Thirteen member* of the New Plymouth Amateur Athletic Club took part and the time was 18J minutes. Rawson (2min.) and C. Robertson (2min.) finished second and third respectively. Other starters were:— South, Kingston (3min.l, G. Slyfield, Pen warden (2min.), L. Slyfield, Capoon, Head (Imin.), D. Robertaon, Tuffery (acr.). Sprints on the lieach were indulged in during the remainder of tha afternoon. EVENING MEETINGS.
The first of a series of evening meetings under the auspices of the New Plymouth Club will be held on Tuesday night at about 5.30 p.m. at Pukekura Park. The races to be run will be a junior two laps, 100 yards maiden, and 100 yards and 880 yards senior. .The aeries will extend over a period of six nights, and prizes will be allotted t.| those gaining most points in six races. Nominations may lie made with the ciul* captain or on the ground.
