DISREGARD OF DEATH

AN EPISODE OF EXISTENCE SIR OLIVER LODGE’S VIEWS. LIFE A PERMANENT THING. By Teleffraph— Press Assn.—Copyright. London, Nov. 12. A striking appeal far the disregard of death was made by Sir Oliver Lodge when lecturing at the Memorial Hall. Ho said: “We should think about the grave as little as possible. I have never seen my hoy’s grave in France; he has asked me not to. If people only get over the trouble about interment and the mediaeval superstition about lying there for centuries awaiting the general resurrection, they will begin to regard death as an episode, and not be afraid of some thing bound to come. “Cold science will sooner or later find itself seriously bound to face the question of survival. The few people who feel they have communicated with friends on the other side have learned that the appearance is not greatly changed. They still have bodilv manifestations. I may be asked ‘How do you know!’ I reply that I cannot doubt it, because I am in occasional touch with them.

“Ry evidence I have gradually become convinced to the best of my scientific belief; I assure you what I am saying is the truth, namely tjiat dife permanent thing which exists with matter for a time ami then leaves and goes on to other surroundings, but whether happier or not I am unable definitely to say.”
