COMPULSORY SERVICE REDUCED. By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright. Paris, Nov. 12. The Government is proposing measures to: (1) Reduce the period of compulsory service to one year. (2) To increase the number of professional soldiers. (3) To charge civil and military agents With the maintenance of internal order. (4) To provide for the formation of mobile Republican Guards. It ie expected proposals will build up a powerful military which will enable tlie utilisation of the whole of the nation’s resources in on emergency.
