NORTH TARANAKI PLAY SHIELD MATCHES CONTINUED. RESULTS OF SATURDAY'S PLAY. The shield competition among the bowling clubs of New Plymouth and Waitara were advanced a stage further on Saturday. A high wind affected play fomewhat, but. otherwise conditions were generally good. Paritutu, playing oq its own green, secured its first win in the shield matches. Its score against Vogeltown was 116 to 129. West End defeated New Plymouth by 33 ■ points, and Fitzroy won at Waitara l>v 177 pointe to 149. PARITUTU v. VOGELTOWN. Playing on the Paritutu green, the home chib gained its first victory in the shield competition, when it defeated Vogeltown in a six rink mateli by 17 points, tlie scores being Paritutu 146 and Vogeltown 129. The game on the whole was fairly even, three rinks on each side winning. After the game, Mr. C. Robertson, the president of the Vogeltown Club, congratulated the young club on its success, Mr. W. W.
