ANONYMOUS LETTERS.

ALLEGED WRITER CHARGED. London, Dec. 5. Angele Laval, supposed to be the authoress of anonymous letters, signed “The Dominion of Calumny,” and “Tiger’s Eye,” presented a sorry figure in the dock at the opening of her trial at Tulle, says the Paris correspondent of the Times. A frail looking woman, she shrunk from the hostile demonstrations of the crowd. She described her experiences in mental hospitals, and stated that she had been hypnotised and made to wear the “camisole de force” to correct fits of violence. Two doctors gave evidence that she had a disease of the brain, but the family doctor stated that she was incapable of writing obscenites. Two handwriting experts denied the similarity of Angele’s handwriting with that of the letters.
