NEW YEAR HOLIDAYS. POINTS FOR THE HOUSEWIFE. The following points in connection with shopping hours during the New Year holidays should be remembered by the New Plymouth housewife: To-night (New Year’s Eve) all shops will be open till 10 p.m. Grocers, drapers, clothiers—Shops will be closed on Monday (New Year’s Day) and Tuesday, January 2, re-opening- on Wednesday. Butchers—The master butchers will close all day on New Year’s Day and be open on Tuesday from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. Bakers—Bakers will be open on both Monday and Tuesday for the sale of small goods, but bread will not be available till Wednesday morning. Fruiterers—Fruiterers will be open for business on both New Year’s Day and the day after.
