DEATHS IN CONFLICT.

TROUBLE IN ITALY. By Telegraph.—Press Assn. —Copyright. Received Dec. 28, 7.25 p.m. Rome, Dec. 27. Sanguinary conflicts occurred between Fascists and Communists during Christmas at Piana, near Venice, a number of persons being killed and wounded. The conflict commenced by Communists tearing down Fascist manifestoes. The Venetian Fascists then mobilised their forces and inarched to Piana, where the Communists occupied a fortified house. When the Fascists surrounded the premises with a girdle of fire the Communists were obliged to rush out. A desperate struggle ensued, in which the Communists were beaten and eventually captured. Calm has now been restored. —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
