The sun rises to-day at 4.36 a.m. and sets at 7.24 p.m.; to-morrow, rises at 4.30 a.m. and sets at 7.24 p.m. ARRIVED. December 28.—John. s.s. (6.30 p.m.), 342 tons, Hawich, from Wanganui. IN PORT. Talroa, s.s. Corinna, s.s. John, s.s. (in the stream). EXPECTED ARRIVALS. COASTAL. Ilarawa, from Onehunga, to-day. Kahika, from south, Jan. 10. OVERSEAS. Carpentaria, due here to load, January 4. Tekoa, due here to load Jan. 8. Kauri, from Newcastle, Jan. 10. Waimarlno, to load at Pacific Coast ports early in December for New Zealand ports, including New Plymouth. Manuka, duo here March 3 or 4. Paparoa, due here to load, March 10. IWaiwera, to load in London next March. Due here end of May. C. and D. liner, tc load In London next May. NEWS OF TEKOA. The Federal liner Tekoa, which left Newcastle on Wednesday, arrived at Auckland on Monday, to load for New York, Boston and West Coast ports of the United Kingdom. The vessel will 16ad also at Lyttelton, New Plymouth, Wanganui. Wellington, and Napier, being due at New Plymouth on Jan. 8. She will sail finally from Napier on January 26 for New York, Boston, Avonmouth, Liverpool, Manchester and Glasgow. CARPENTARIA NEXT WEEK. The Carpentaria, which is now at Lyttelton, is expected at Picton on January 2 and at New Plymouth next Thursday (January 4). She -will load Homeward produce at this port. ANOTHER LINER ANNOUNCED. The liner Paparoa, under the auspices of 1 the Federal Line, is announced to arrive at ' New Plymouth about March 10 to load meat for Home. KAURI FROM NEWCASTLE. The Union Company’s vessel Kauri, which left Auckland last Saturday for Newcastle, is announced to load at the latter port for New Plymouth. Her cargo is presumably coal, and she is expected here about January 10. JOHN ANCHORED OFF. The John arrived from southern ports via Wanganui early last evening, and anchored in the stream. She will take the Pajitutu’s berth this morning, and Is expected to sail about « noon.
TAIROA SAILS TO-DAY. The liner Talroa, which has been in port over the Christmas holidays, will complete Homeward loading and sgil to-day between 4 and 5 p.m. for the Wanganui roadstead. KAHIKA’S NEXT TRIP. The Kahika, at present al Nelson, sails subsequently for Wellington and southern ports. She loads at Bluff, being due at Dunedin on January 3, and will arrive at New Plymouth via way ports about January 10. CORINNA TO SAIL. The Corinna will probably sail this afternoon for Wellington, where she will translnp 10,000 crates of cheese to the lonic. RARAWA THIS MORNING. The Rarawa is due from Onehunga this morning with passengers and general cargo. She sails on return north at 8.30 to-night, anil Is due back next Wednesday, a day later than usual owing to the intervention of New Year’s Day on Monday. OVERSEA MOVEMENTS.
