Tahumatu was the only scratching in the Trial Plate, leaving 14 runners, Kilroe, Allmariba and Bonny Louisa being the best supported. From a straggling start, Fran and Bonny Louisa took up the running, Allmariba being shut out and knocked back. Bonnie Louisa led from Red Cherry along the back, with Allmariba closing up. Bonny Louisa led into the straight, with Red Cherry, Allmariba, and Bonomel handy. A great race home saw Con Reed score by a neck with Red Cherry, Allmariba being an unlucky second, with Bonny Louisa and Bonomel close up. Lord Usk was withdrawn from the hurdles, Black Art, Demagogue and Sir Fanciful having most supporters. Demagogue Immediately went to the front and led past the stand from Wamba and Black Art, with Sir Fanciful tailed off. Demagogue was well clear alonj the back. Black Art ran Into second place, but fell back three furlongs from home. Temalre finished fast but had no chance with" 1 Demagogue, who won very easily. Sir Fanciful, under punishment, ran Into third place, and Black Art, who was lame, was fourth. Sixteen started in the Gillies Handicap, Fleeting, Atapo and Bonibrook commanding most attention. Wake Up broke a good line and led Atapo, Bonibrook and Hytinus to th* turn, where Fleeting came fast on the outside. Wake Up struggled on gamely, but Fleeting was not to be denied, and won nicely. Hytinus was a fair third, and Tekuri next. Ngata and Fera were the only absentees in the Cup, leaving ten runners. Marqueteur, who appeared sore, finished slightly better supported than Merry Day, with Scotch Mixture and Sunart next. Bonnie Heather, Dissertation and Paoanul led off from a good start, the pace being very slow. Dissertation led Paoanul, Merry Day and Admiral Codrington passing the stand. Dissertation clapped on speed passing the six-furlong post, and was well clear of Paoanui, Admiral Codrington, Merry Day and Bonnie Heather going along the back. Paoanui’s white nose showed in front as they turned for home, and Dissertation, Merry Day and Festivity all put in claims. A great race home resulted In Paoanul, Dissertation and Merry Day passing the judge necks apart. Festivity was fourth. Marqueteur was never dagerous, and the distance beat Admiral Codrington.

Only six lined up for the Nursery Handicap, Panorama and Rereinoana being scratched. Civility and Miss Govern were most fancied, Benmure momentarily' led, but Civility quickly took the lead, followed by Blonde and Benmure. The latter challenged Civility at the distance, but Civility drew away again and won easily, Benmure just beating Miss Govern, who came from a long way back, for second place. Blonde was fourth. Kilblrd, Pantier, Tussore and Native Queen dropped out of the Tararu Welter. Waipatu had a heap of supporters. Redlogue led Waipatu and a bunched crowd out of the straight and along the back the same pair were in front, followed by Good Mark. Waipatu headed Redlogue on the turn, and looked a sure winner, but stooped a hundred yards from home. Martulla, ridden right out, beat the fast-finishing Happy Days by a good margin. Waipatu was a fair third, and Good Mark was fourth.

All started In the Fitzherbert Haftdlcnp. Chimera, Irapuka, Passionless and Ambitious were in demand. Capping Day led a bunched lot at the end of a furlong and then gave way to Jackaroo and Chimera. The latter led into the straight, but Irapuka joined issue over the final stage. A great finish resulted >n Chimera’s favor by a neck. Valerie was a fair third and Ambitious fourth. All started in the Grandstand Handicap. Cleasanta, Correspondent and Little River car ried most money. Barleycorn and Blissfulness led in the early stages. Nursing Sister assumed command in the straight, and Zouave joined issue, hut both failed over the last bit. Cleasanta came fast and won nicely from Zouave, with Little River and Nursing Sister close up.
