WAITARA.
(From Our Own Correspondent). The Druids Lodge held a Christmas Tree Carnival in the Clifton Hall last Monday night. Over 200 children were in attendance and each child received a toy fiom Father Christmas. Games of all sorts were in- 1, ’god in and the following competitions v.qre held and won as under:—'Singing I competition: Jean de Launey 1. Edna Johnston 2. Laughing: (Girls). Jean Callander 1, Nola TTusp 2; (boys). Tom Ewens 1, Tom Hawkings 2. Skipping: Afaisie Keith 1, Dora Fowler 2. Bun and treacle eating: Tom Ewens I. H. Beckbessinger 2. A sit-down supper was provided for the children. The following night (Tuesday) the Druids held a social for the adults, which was well attended. Dancing was
the main feature and was kept going until midnight. The music was provided bv Mrs. Wiseman.
The school - attendance prizes were presented at the school on Wednesday afternoon by Air. T. R. Ford (the chairman), eighty prizes being presented. An excellent record has been established bv Edwin Roberts, who for the past
six years has only missed one day. On Wednesday afternoon the teachers met to farewell Miss Walker, who is shortly to bp married. The headmaster. in making a presentation of a handsome ‘silver trinket set. said they were all sorry to lose Miss Walker and he wished her a happy married life. To the rest of the teachers ho wished a most enjoyable holiday during the vacation.
