MAIL CAR OVERTURNED. Wellington, December 20. The Secretary of the Post and Telegraph Department received a message yesterday from the postmaster at Tarawera reporting an accident to the mail car on the Napier-Taupo service, three miles south of Tarawera. The steering gear collapsed, and the car was precipitated into a creek. There were three passengers in the car. The driver and one passenger, an elderly lady, are reported to be seriously injured. The Hawke’s Bay Motor Co. is sending a relief car with a doctor to the scene of the accident.
