SUICIDE BY SHOOTING. •Christchurch, December IS. George James Virtue, aged 49, died in hospital from a self-inflicted revolver wound in the right temple. Virtue, who lived at Woolston and leaves a wife and young family, had recently been in hospital five weeks. He shot himself at 9 a.m. and died at 11 a.m. AFTERMATH OF DIPTHERIA. Thelma Edwards, aged 10, died on the way to the hospital as the result of the blocking of an artificial opening in the windpipe necessitated fouj years ago by a severe attack of diphtheria. found buried in the sand nt Lyall Bay, Dr. Hector, who made a post-mortem examination, stated that it was the body of a female child apparently newly born. It bore no marks of injury or disease. In his opinion it had been buried about a fortnight.
