SUPPORT FROM THE CHURCHES. By Telegraph-—Press Association. Christchurch, Dec. 19. The following resolution was carried by the Council of Christian Congregations: “That the council records gratitude for the report recently presented to the Government by the committee of the Board of Health regarding the k prevalence of venereal disease, and gives 9 its whole-hearted support to its consid- ' ered declaration that what is necessary above all else is the cultivation of a higher moral standard, reinforced by religion, and that the council earnestly hopes all citizens, and particularly parents and teachers, will read the report.” The question of further action was held over for a report by tne executive. The council also urged the Government to provide homes for mental defioents not bad enough for mental hospitals.
