C. and D. liner, to load in London next May. TAIROA STANDING OFF. The Shaw, Savill and Albion Company’s liner Tairoa arrived from Brisbane yesterday morning at 1 a.m., anchoring at 5 a.m. The vessel left Liverpool on October 14, arriving at Adelaide, via the Cape of Good Hope, on November 23, after a 39 days’ trip. The vessel proceeded to Melbourne on November 25, going thence to Sydney, Newcastle and Brisbane, leaving the Australian coast for New Plymouth at 10 pirn, last Tuesday. Fine weather was experienced during most of the trip, except a hard blow experienced for three days off the Cape of Good Hope. The vessel's principal dimensions are given as 11,100 tons dead weight, nett tonnage 7983, length 500 ft.. breadth 63ft. Captain W. G. Summers is in command, and with him are associated the following: Chief officer, Sir. E. T. Grayson; second, Mr. J. Steele; third, Mr. J. Finn; midshipmen, C. G. Bleasdale, R- C. Limbert, A. S. Winton; chief engineer, Mr. D. J. Robertson; second, B. Tindle; third# Mr. Williams: fourth. Mr. Arckley; fifth, Mr. Underhill ; sixth, Mr. Vickers; seventh, Mr. s James; chief refrigerating engineer, Mr. Sellex; second, Mr. Hogg; surgeon, Dr. S. Scoullar; chief steward, Mr. Churcher. It is hoped to berth the Tairoa to-night after the departure of the Suffolk, when she will commence the loading of 33,000 carcases of frozen meat, 20,000 boxes of butter, 8000 crates of cheese, and a quantity of general cargo. The Tairoa goes to Wanganui from this port, sailing from here probably on Saturday. SUFFOLK LOADING. Good progress was being made with the loading of the Suffolk yesterday, and the vessel is expected to sail for Wellington at ? p.m. to-day. From this port she Is taking 9000 freight carcases from Messrs. Borthwick’s Waitara works, 250 freight carcases from tnt Inglewood Bacon Comapny, and 1000 from the Paten freezing works. JOHN DISCHARGES. The John discharged 250 tons of general southern cargo yesterday, and sailed at 2.30 p.m. for Nelson, en route to Lyttelton. The John has recently been under an extensive overhaul, and Is now classed 100 A.l. at Lloyd’s. RARAWA TO-DAY. The Rarawa Is due from Onehunga this morning with passengers and general cargo, and returns north after the arrival of this evening’s mall train. The vessel is due here again on Thursday and Saturday in order to cater for the Christmas traffic. OVERSEA MOVEMENTS.
