Lussor states that owing to a threat of rain and a fear of consequent floods destroying the recently discovered antiquities, Mr. Carter and his assistants are feverishly attempting to re-bury the door of Tutankhamen’s tomb under a watertight compartment of earth and rocks. Mr. Garter states there will be practically no hope of saving the treasures in the event of a *torm. — United Service. London, December 15. The Cairo correspondent of the Time l ! says the leading Arabic journal urgtm the Egyptian Government worthily and generously to reward, in the name of the whole nation, Mr. Carnarvon by offering him the biggest honours, and reserving for the treasures he has unearthed special rooms in the museum, over which his name should be inscribed, by erecting his statue ns a sign of ‘the national gratitude, and awarding pecuniary and honorary rewards to his collaborators, particularly Mr. Carter.
