Let’s say to all our friends (of course they may intend making us Christmas gifts and they may not—but in either case the honest suggestion must do Anyway let’s say to them:— “Now don’t buy us anything expensive, extravagant, or just ‘plain useful.’ We’re <roin<r to be honest this Christmas—especially where our pleasure is concerned a nd we really would love, yes, absolutely ’love’ a good old pal of a book, a rattling good yarn, spooky stuff, highbrow, thrilling, tender, poetical—oh, hang it all man. there are thousands of books to choose from—hut give us a book!” Then see all the glad relieved friends rush this suggestion' “WHERE’S A BOOKSHOP.”
