TE AROHA SCHOOL
BREAKING-UP CEREMONY. The Te Aroha (New Plymouth) pteparatory school closed on Wednesday last for the vacation. The high standard of teaching by Miss Menzies haw been maintained during the year. The children were given prizes according to merit in their classes. A number of pupils passed on to the high schools last year and high praise ha-s been given to Miss Menzies for the splendid grounding. Jack Mackay, Peter Moyes, Joan Sladden and Mary Thomson, all old pupils of Te Aroha school, were among the prize winners of the high schools. Mr. Ballantyne, school inspector, visited the school twice this year, and not only expressed hia personal appreciation of the work done, but officially reported on the high tone throughout the school and the competent manner in which all subjects are taught. The prize list is:— Standard lll.—Ernestine Fookw, Susie Lawrence. *. 'Standard II. —First in class, Mon» Smart; second in class, Thomas Thomson. ’Standard I.—First in class, Jean kay: second in clase, Barbara Primers.—Nonnie Griffiths, Shona Mackay, David Blackley. All the children received a book as a Christmas gift. •
