Mr R. Masters, M.P. for Stratford, returned from Wellington last night by the mail train. Mr. Anderson, chief officer of , the steamer Corinna, has been appointed captain of that vessel, whilst .Captain Edge, formerly in command, is being transferred. At a special meeting of the Taranaki Presbvtery, held on Tuesday last, the Rev. H. B. Gray stated that it jas with great regret that he was compelled to ask the Presbyterv to accept. his resignation of the flaw, era, ehar-gc. The condition of Mrs. Gray s health made a change of residence »«emary before another winter set in. He asked to be relieved as from February 18. The Presbytery, after due considers tion agreed to the request and appointthe Rev J. D. Smith, of Manila, as Interim-Moderator during the vacancy in the pastorate.
