AN AUCKLAND INCIDENT. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. The City Council approved of recent correspondence between the Mayor (Mr. Gunson) and Dr. Liston, Roman Catholic Coadjutor Bishop of Auckland, concerning a resolution of the council on March 23 last in respect of the Bishop s speech in the Town Hall on the evening of St. Patrick’s Day. In a letter last week Dr. Liston said: “It is not my intention to resort to litigation or to do anything which will accentuate or re-open old differences.” A motion was carried that the council approved of the correspondence and deemed the incident therein referred to as closed, and with that end in view resolves that the resolution passed on March 23, 1922, ehall henceforth cease to have any operation.
