N.P. CALEDONIAN SOCIETY.
THE MOXTHLY • Tlie monthly meeting of lltf loc:il Caledonian Society was held, last Monday night. The Chief (Mr. R. W. Robertson) presided. The question of holding a Caledonian sports taeeting at an early date was discussed, and it was decided. : . such an event has not been held since 1913. to carry out an extensive programme, submitted by a subcommittee set un for that purpose. The prizes will be well worth competing for, anl as the date applied for. March 10, follows up the championship meeting, there are sure to be record entries. One of the principal events will be a £5O Sheffield, so the local cracks had better get into strict training. The question of fitting out the Pipe Band with kilts was brought up, and it should not be very long before the Society’s Band will really look like a Pipe Band. The donations towards this fund have not come in as freely as was expected, although there hate been lots of promises, but no doubt it is only a matter of being asked, and asking is not one of the Scottish characteristics. Next month falls due the anniversary of Scotland’s greatest poet, Robert Burns, and it is the intention of the Society to celebrate the occasion in the customary manner. It is an occasion when all true Scots should get together, and do honor to one of Scotland's immortal sons. His works are becoming more popular as time goes on, and' the least Scots can do in this far off country is to help to keep his memory ever green. A strong committee was set up to go fully into details of holding a Burns’ night on January
