NEW INSURANCE COMPANY’S SUCCESS.
£45,000 SUBSCRIBED IN FIVE DAYS. Success is attending the first call for Shares issued by The Mercantile and General Insurance Company, Ltd., state the Directors of this concern. Within five days of the appearance of the first intimation no less than £45,000 has been subscribed by the general public. Incidentally, returns from the South Island are incomplete, owing to the shipping strike. It is claimed that this tangible exhibition of the public’s faith in a Dominion owned and controlled insurance company fully justifies the Directors’ confidence in its ultimate success. The returns to Shareholders in other New Zealand established Institutions of a similar character have been so good that people obviously have no qualms about investing their savings in the new firm. It is expected that the present Share List will be closed at an early date, and as future shares will most likely be issued at a premium, the Directors intimate that early application should be made. Copies of the Prospectus ean be obtained from any branch of the National Bank, at the Registered Office of the Company, 32 Grey Street, Wellington-, at any of its Branch Offices, or from the Local Representative, Mr. C. H. McGill, Grand Central Hotel, New Plymouth.
