TAURANGA LADY'S BENEFACTIONS. Tauranga, Dec. 9. Mrs. McCaw, who died here on Thursday, left £2OO to the Salvation Army, £2OO to the Church of England, and numerous small legacies to friends. The residue of the .estate, estimated ' at £4OOO, goes Bo the Tauranga hospital. HUNT-LY MINE FIRE. Auckland, Dec. 9. A Huntly telegram states that the Extended mine has been on fire since Tuesday. Every effort is being made iby the company to cope with the outbreak, which is regarded as serious. CHINAMEN FINED. Wellington, Dec. 9. Chin Turn Get and Kum Kin, charged with possession of smokable opium, were fined £3O and £25 respectively by Mr. Hunt, S.M. BREACH OF LICENSING LAW. Timaru, Dec. 9. Before Mr. Platts, S.M., J. Mackenzie was sentenced to one month’s imprisonment for keeping liquor for sale in a proclaimed area. Mary Mackenzie, his wife, was fined £25 for taking liquor in, and £5 for keeping liquor for sale. Security for appeal was granted and the warrant for imprisonment suspended. FOUND DEAD IN BED. Dunedin, Dec 9. Isaac Myers, a single man, 24 years of age, was found dead in bed this morning, with an empty poison bottle alongside him.
