DAILY NEWS AGENCY. Advertisements and items of news for publication In the Taranaki Daily News should be left at the office of our local representstative, care Mr. \V. H. Humphrey, Broadway, Stratford. Orders lor papers may also be left with him. PARK IMPROVEMENTS. December 8. Excellent progress is being made with the work of laying down the sports ground in Victoria Park and a long felt need in Stratford —a first-class football and cricket field—will soon be an accomplished fact. The greater part of the terraces on the three sides of the field have already been built up froon the spoil excavated from the centre of the ground, and a fair proportion has been turfed out. An idea of the beauty and efficiency of the ground can be obtained from the progress already made and the decision of the Domain Board in adopting ’Air. Forbes’ plan is being favorably commented upon. The playing area should be one of the beat in Taranaki and ample room for a large crowd of spectators will be provided on the embankments.

The surroundings of the new tennis courts are no longer the wilderness they were before the caretaker was* appointed to the domains. At the present rate of progress Victoria Park as a. whole should soon be a distinct credit to the town. In spite of the extra three concrete tennis courts recently laid down the accommodation for tennis enthusiasts is not nearly sufficient, and the laying down of at least three more hard courts is contemplated. The three new grass courts will not be ready for play for some time, and meanwhile much waiting for games has to be endured by members of the club.

Mr. E. S. Breeze, chief goods clerk at the Stratford Railway Station, has been transferred to Paekakariki.
