ISSUE OF PREFERENCE SHARES IN WELL-ESTABLISHED HAWERA BUSINESS. The attention of investors is called to an issue of preference shares by the Hawera Sash and Door Company, Ltd. This business was founded by Messrs. Twigg Co. about 30 years ago, and was carried on by them, and later by Messrs. Quin Bros, until 1920, when it was acquired by the present company. During the time of Messrs. Quin Bros, the business was recognised as one of the most successful of its kind in the North Island. Notwithstanding the recent financial depression, it Is stated that the trade of the company has been well maintained, and there is at the present time only one other sash and door company situated in the large district between Wanganui and New Plymouth. It is desirable that support of this venture should be given by local residents, as the company, in addition to rendering service to the building and joinery trades, provides employment to many people in the district. As interest rates are on the down grade (the first reduction of bank rate is announced for Ist January next), an investment which gives a return of 7 per cent, free of income tax is one that will strongly. recommend itself to investors. Those who take up preference shares in this issue are entitled to participate equally with ordinary shareholders in any surplus profit, that remains after ordinary shareholders have received 7 per cent. The net assets of the company are valued at £31,093 8s 4d, which means that the issue of £16,000 preference Shares will be secured by practically £2 for every £1 invested. The shareholders have so much faith in the concern that they have already subscribed £4500 towards the present issue. Copies of the prospectus can be obtained from Halliwell, Spratt and Thomson, solicitors, Hawera; Hugh B. Bur dekin, broker, Hawera; or from any branch of the National Bank of New Zealand.* Ford Owners! A “KING” AUTOMATIC OILER eaves running costs. Prevents burnt-out bearings and scored pistons.
