ENTERTAINMENTS.

THE PEOPLE’S. “THE GUTTERSNIPE” TO-NIGHT. Miss Gladys Walton, a pleasing little star at all times, enhances her value as an entertainer in “The Guttersnipe,” which screens to-night at the People’s, for her characterisation is certainly convincing. She is seen as a virile and very forcible young lady, ever-ready with her fists to prove that, might is right, should occasion warrant. Her rescue of a badly-battered young man. in top hat and dress-suit, from the very direct attentions of a couple of undesirable harrowmen culminates in a romance, and, even though the girl’s hero is but a cheap masquerader, the former’s ardour is none the less sincere. Episodes of the cheerful order combine to effect a happy interest, and, by the time the final fade-out is reached, patrons will realise that they have witnessed a very pleasing and wholesome little story. For the convenience of patrons the management have arranged to screen the results of to-day’s election.

EVERYBODY’S. MATINEE THIS AFTERNOON AT 2 P.M. For the convenience of people who may find time hang heavy this afternoon, the management of Everybody’s have arranged to run a special matinee commencing at 2 o’clock, when a new and brilliant programme will be shown. Prices will be as usual for adults and sixpence for children. The chief picture will be a Paramount feature, “North of the Rio Grande,” starring .lack Holland Bebe Daniels. “Rio Grande” is one of the most thrilling sweeping yarns ever picturised, and the players could not have been better selected. It is a Western picture, a sizzling romantic drama of the great outdoors, of the land where men are men. It moves wth the sure breathless speed of the two wonderful horses around which it is woven; it has situations to set the pulses throbbing, the heart beating wildly and the brain

to stand still at the wonder of what is going to happen next. Supports include two exceptionally good two-reel comedies, a Mermaid and a Mack Sennett, and the usual interest films.
