CHARGE OF MURDER.
A YOUNG NATIVE ARRESTED.
DEATH OF A CONTRACTOR. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Lost Night. Thia afternoon acting-Detective Walsh arrested a young native named John '1 ohi on a charge of having on or about October 14 murdered Herbert Henry Knight, a contractor. It appears, from what can be gathered of the case, that Knight was not reported to the police as missing until last week. An investigation of the cir-» cumstances connected with his disappearance created certain nuspicions, and the case was placed in the hands of acting-Detective Walsh for inveangstion.
The dead body of Knight has been recovered, and the remains are being
brought into Wellington, so that a postmortem examination may be made. The arrested man, John Tohi, ia about twenty years of age. The deceased, Herbert Henry Knight, was unmarried. He was a contractor, and his age wa« about fifty years. He had property at Johnsonville and at Island Bay.
