AGRICULTURAL AFFAIRS.

THE TARANAKI SOCIETY. A meeting of the general committee of the Taranaki Agricultural Society was held on Friday at New Plymouth, Mr. W. B. Grant (president) occupying the chair. There were also present: Messrs. H. C. Sampson, W. Hall, G. H. Bell, H. Stonex, A. T. Moore, A. P. Lister, H. Ward, J. Allen, R. H. Gatenby, 0. Penwarden, J. 11. Bagiev, J. H. Hamilton, N. W. Hill, J. A. Kurth, S. W. Hill, J. Dodunski, G. W. Browne. The chairman reported that the subcommittees appointed for the purpose had revised the schedule of the autumn show. A number of alterations had been made with a view to popularising several of the classes, and several new classes had been added.

It was decided to include four classes in the schedule for heifer calves reared in connection with the boys’ zand girls’ agricultural cjubs, one each for .jersey, Ayrshires, Friesians, and Shorthorns. It was resolved that the calves be judged on dairy type. The president and Messrs. H. C. Sampson, W. Hall, and A.. T. Moore were appointed a sub-committe to confer with members of the poultry committee with reference to the poultry section of the winter show. The chairman, vice-presidents and Messrs. Bagley and Hamilton were appointed to go into the question of green feed supplies for the autumn show’.
