The Bishop of Auckland (Dr. A. W. Averill) left for Auckland by the mail train yesterday. Mr. Robert Aroa, Vogeltown, was appointed county inspector at yesterday’s meeting -of the Taranaki County Council, vice Mr. H. Y. McGahey, who has resigned. A Dunedin message reports the death of Mr. Alexander McLean, head teacher of the Alexandra District High School. Deceased was a well-known bowler,’ and collapsed on the Cromwell Sbwling green. Miss P. M. P. Clarke, of the New Plymouth Girls’ High School staff, has resigned her position as a member of the Carnegie Institute Committee owing to her early departure for England. The resignation was accepted with regret by the New Plymouth Borough Council last night.
