NORTH TARANAKI ASSOCIATION. SATURDAY’S MATCHES. Although the weather was somewhat threatening, the games under the auspices of the North Taranaki Association were played and some good scores were registered. In the A grade competition, New Plymouth met High School at the School; Old Boys went to Urenui; while Waitara went to Inglewood. Results at a glance: A Grade. New Plymouth drew with High School. Old Boys drew with Urenui. B Grade. Harbor Works beat School 11. Rovers beat Technical College. School 111 beat New Plymouth. A GRADE. NEW PLYMOUTH v. HIGH SCHOOL. New Plymouth met the School first eleven at the School, and, batting first, made the respectable total of 166 runs. Ferry (not out for 71) heading the batting list. Time was called when School had four wickets down for 78, and the match consequently resulted in a draw. Palmer and Mahraj shared the bowling honors for the School, taking five wickets for 73 runs and four for 61, respectively; while Clarke wo for 30) and Newbold (one for 17) accounted for the wickets for New Plymouth. School knocked up 77 runs in their first Innings (Cottier 16, Le May 13, Buick 12), and 36 in their second (Foden 10), while New Plymouth made 58 and 34 runs, respectively (Thomas 21, W. Hughes 15, and Shepherd 12).) For New Plymouth, Clarke, with four wickets for 15 runs, and Osborne three for 15, shared the bowling honors In the School’s first innings, while Clarke again distinguished himself In their second tour of taking seven wickets for 9 runs. Foden, with three for 11, and Petty, with two for 6, took most wickets for the School when New Plymouth were first at the wicket, while Buick accounted for seven wickets in their second turn.

Western Park Rovers had a narrow win over Technical College In their match, which was played at Western Park, the scores being 77 and 72 runs, respectively. For the Rovers, R. Hoskin (28) and E. Rountree (18) batted well, while Dowland (19) and Loveridge (14) headed the list for the College eleven. Loveridge, with three wickets for 25 runs: Hooper, two for 10, and Dickson, with four for 20, took the wickets for College; while L. Harris, with five wickets for 11 runs, had the honor for the Rovers, the other wickets falling to N. Harris, Morrison, Bullot, and Machu. New South Wales, in their first innings, made 140 (Macartney 46. Hendry 30, Asher not out 18). Queensland have lost six wickets for 126 (Thompson #B, Rowe 52, Oxenham not out 22). ENGLISH TEAM IN AFRICA. Received Dec. 3, 5.5 p.m. Capetown, Dec. 2. The weather was very hot, the wicket fast and the outfield bare. Grlqualand West, in their first innings, made 198 (N. Tapscott 57, Rlgal IS, Percy not out 23, L. Tapscott 30). Fender took four wlckl ets for 56 runs, of which three were got In one over. Gilligan took three for 37 and Stevens two for 11.
